I have a new interview with Deb Martin at Two Ends of the Pen, in which I discuss my new book Ever The Hero. I also talk a little about the road to publishing the novel, which has been, um, long.

I sold my first novel in 2008 and the publisher sat on it for years. I lost time, confidence and nearly my career and that steered me toward a want for control.

This is a reference to my first novel, The Book of Elizabeth, which I had sold to a publisher and anticipated to publish in 2009. I was very excited, if unprepared, for this huge first step in my literary career. What followed were a few years of absolute frustration that ended with my taking the rights back. Silence, obstruction and deception pushed me toward publishing the book myself. I am proud of the work and people continue to tell me how much they enjoyed it, but for me, it remains a symbol of a period of severe doubt and paralysis.
